Most people I know who have placed their eyes on the Asus Eee PC (no matter the variant) have a soft spot for this tiny wonder, and that’s probably because they can identify with the pain of lugging around a large notebook wherever you go even if you only want to check your e-mail. Read more
Canon Powershot Elph goes bling

Are you an avid photographer? Well, if you like to capture all things pretty, why not get a digital camera that looks good on the outside as well? This limited edition Canon Powershot Elph will come in five different diamond-encrusted colors, and will be unveiled by tennis star Maria Sharapova – a long time spokeswoman for Canon and their range of Powershot cameras. The camera itself, in its vanilla version won’t retail for much, but slap on a bunch of diamonds and you are met with a $12,000 price tag courtesy of the 88 white diamonds which weigh a stunning 2.22 carats. I suppose this digital camera would go down well with the Mobiado Lucido.
USB Email Notifier

Emails have their pros and cons – they certainly get the message across a whole lot faster, but when you’re somewhere at the top of your profession, expect a flurry of emails to arrive in your inbox on a daily basis, so much so that it will take at least an hour to sort everything out before you even get to work. Sometimes, we might even miss crucial emails that drop in, hence the need for a gadget like the USB Email Notifier. This device will light up each time an email arrives, and you will be able to choose from blue, red or green colors. It is compatible with a wide range of email clients including Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express as well as POP3-compatible email clients. Webmail services like Yahoo!, Google and Hotmail also work just fine with it. There is no word on pricing at this point of time.
Sharewear concept dress

Walking home alone after a late night out, only to find that the path leading up to your home isn’t properly lighted? Why, that wouldn’t be a problem at all with the Sharewear concept dress by designer Di Mainstone. Sure, it makes you look rather ridiculous but there is the added advantage of having the area around you lighted. Not recommended during those summer months since bugs would probably be attracted to you (those are the least of your worries – what about weirdos and other psychopaths?). The Sharewear actually consists of a couple of dresses that are slotted together at the hip section. Definitely not practical in any sense, but it is interesting nonetheless.
Olympic themed flash drives

Being a Chinese, I can’t help but be proud of just how well the Beijing 2008 Olympics kicked off, what with the stunning opening ceremony and all. Lenovo, being a China-based company, no doubt threw in a fair bit of money into the $300 million opening extravaganza budget, and they are also behind the official Olympics USB flash drive range. Among them are the Olympic torch model that comes with 4GB of storage space, featuring the games logo at the center surrounded by swirling red clouds. Those who prefer something more animated might settle for the Mascot series that consists of half a dozen units at 4GB each as well. The third collection will see five medallions, although it is pretty hard to detect where the USB plug is hidden. Last but not least, there will only be ten available units of the extremely limited edition drive set that features 1GB titanium drives with a swiveling USB connector, all encased in a special mahogany box.
Americans break record

Unfortunately, this record doesn’t really matter in the annals of history, and it surely has nothing to do with the recently concluded Olympics where the track and field team did not do as well as expected. The record I’m talking about here is the SMS text messaging record, as VeriSign concluded that approximately 95.4 billion SMS text messages were sent between wireless carriers in just the first half of the year! This is a new record, and when you break down the numbers, that averages to around 648 million texts in a single day or 42 million text messages just 60 minutes. All I can say is, this trend won’t stop anytime soon so you can expect the record to be surpassed easily in the near future.
Crayola EZ Type USB keyboard

Everyone has a inner kid in them even when one is all grown up on the outside, so why not let your hair down once in a while and go nuts? The office need not be a drab place filled with gloomy faces – just take a look at the Googleplex and you’ll know what I mean. I suppose folks working in such a vibrant environment will also be able to appreciate the uniqueness of the Crayola EZ Type USB keyboard. This simple keyboard is meant for beginners, but it will also help inject some color into any self-respecting office. It lacks function keys, a numeric keypad and half the punctuation normally found on a standard keyboard, but it does feature colorful demarcations and has a really huge Escape key. You can get this for your child and borrow it for the office after handing over $29.99 to Crayola.
