This Friday International DJ Sydney Blu @ F-Ultra Lounge

One of the hottest DJs and producers in the electronic dance music world is on her way to the Gateway City.

Straight from Toronto, Canada, Sydney Blu will bring her catchy beats with hits such as “Senses and the Mind,” “Give it up for Me” and her new single, “Instinct,” to F Ultra Lounge, 5517 McPherson Road, on Friday, April 3. She will also be at Dolce Ultra Lounge, in San Antonio, on Thursday, April 2. Dolce is located at 18322 Sonterra Place.

Blu is signed under Mau5trap Records, spearheaded by Deadmau5, one of today’s hottest artists of the genre.

Tickets for the show are available at F Ultra Lounge and Manzo Auto Plex, 410 E. Calton Road.

Presale tickets are $10. Admission the night of the show will be $15 at the door.

Soccer: Mexico vs Costa Rica this Saturday in CONCACAF Playoff Match

This Saturday Mexico will be facing  Costa Rica in a crucial encounter. The Mexican team has lost it’s sparkling form after a miserable record of two  consecutive defeats to Honduras and the U.S.A.  respectively.  After playing the first and only game so far in Round 4 of the qualification for South Africa 2010,Mexico lies at the bottom of the table  quite an embarrassing situation for a country like that that has managed a good number of 13 World Cup appearances in their entire history of football. Mexico has  an overwhelming historical advantage over the group’s leaders Costa Rica though, and Eriksson will hope that his side builds its confidence on the country’s strong head to head advantage and have it right one more time agains the “Ticos” However, Sven’s wish could be much harder to come true than one may think. Costa Rica has  been successful throughout their qualification campaign, winning all of their games so far but the first  which ended in a 2-2 draw away to Grenada.

The greatest interest in the Mexico vs  Costa Rica clash here lies in the fact that while Sven Goran Eriksson’s Mexico will fight to bounce back from their defeat in the United States of America in February, Rodrigo Kenton’s Costa Rica will try to maintain their scintillating form and keep the top spot in the group. Costa Rica has reached the World Cup finals only twice  the last of these appearances being in 2002 and in 2006. The “Ticos” might make it once again for the third consecutive time, and whereas a win on March 28 would put them a step closer to reaching South Africa 2010  defeat for Mexico will surmount the pressure on Coach Eriksson and his side. Despite Costa Rica’s poor football history, Mexico’s recent unconvincing form makes it difficult to pick up as a favorite.

Mexico’s task on March 28 will be to tear down Costa Rica’s flying wings  and the home factor should give them the advantage. There is still hope for Sven’s Mexico to reach the World Cup 2010 finals. Even a third place finish in this final round of the CONCACAF qualifiers will give them automatic tickets to South Africa 2010.

Laredo Bucks: To “Pack the House for Charity” on First Playoff Game

The Laredo Bucks, in conjunction with Border Lease and Laredo Energy have announced that they will again “Pack The House For Charity” at the Bucks first home playoff game this season on April 1st against Odessa.

All Tickets in every section, with the exception of glass and club level seats will be available for a minimum $5 donation, with all proceeds going to Sacred Heart Children’s Home and South Texas Food Bank. The Bucks, along with Border Lease and Laredo Energy are looking to sell out the game, and have 8,002 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center.

Tickets are ON SALE NOW by calling 718-BUCK (2825), or by going to the LEC box office. All walk up tickets on the day of the game will also be available for $5. This is the second year in a row that fans can receive a ticket for $5 to a playoff game with all the proceeds going to charity. Fans can donate more than $5 to the charities if they so choose.

Last season the Bucks ìPacked the House For Charityî for game one of the Conference Semi-Finals against Odessa, as 7,987 fans watched Laredo beat Odessa 4-2. The Bucks donated $10,000 each to the South Texas Food Bank and Sacred Heart Childrenís Home.

The Bucks begin their quest for a third CHL Presidentís Cup Championship when they host their first home playoff game on April 1st against Odessa.

The Numbers do not lie. When the Bucks have played in front of a sold-out LEC they are 15-2-2, including 5-2 in playoff games.

The Last time the Bucks held an event like this it was extremely successful. On January 9 the Bucks had 6,500 fans in the LEC against Bossier-Shreveport, and the team donated $10,000 to WINGS for Breast Cancer treatment.

ESPN Friday Night Fights @ LEC

 

Promoters Arthur Pelullo/Banner Promotions and Rodney Berman/Golden Gloves will present a sensational championship fight card on Friday, March 20, 2009 at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The main event and other selected fights will be televised live on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, their Spanish-Language Network, and ESPN 360.com. It will be the first championship fight card at the LEC since 2005 and the first time that ESPN has televised a fight card from the arena.

Tickets prices: $7, $27, $57, $82. Fight starts @8pm
(Service charge and facility fee are added to each ticket price).
