Laredo Bucks Players Raise $3,150 For WINGS

The Laredo Bucks players raised $3,150 for WINGS Saturday night (June 20th) by auctioning off 12 special Keggers tournament jersey’s at Reina’s Ultra Lounge.
The idea for the WINGS jersey auction came from Bucks players Jeff Bes and Serge Dube.
“We want to thank everyone who came out on Saturday night and helped us raise money for WINGS, we had a great turnout,” said Bes. “It feels great to give back to the Laredo community that has given so much to us.”
The Bucks players, dubbed the Keggers, won last weekend’s Alamo City Classic Hockey Tournament in San Antonio. The Keggers wore pink breast cancer ribbons, as well as the WINGS logo on their special jersey’s.
“I’m very proud of my players for helping put this together,” said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. “The guys thought of this on their own and went out and did a great thing for the community.”
Bucks players on the Keggers were Jeff Bes, Serge Dube, Steve Weidlich, and Adam Rivet, with former Buck defensemen Paul Elliott, and Bucks staff members Matt Brayfield and Jorge Lopez. Corpus Christi’s Justin Quenneville and Chris Mei, along with John Forbes (Springfield, IL) rounded out the team. The tournament team was coached by Bucks play-by-play announcer Bryan Benway, along with Beto Oliveros.
The Keggers were sponsored by 6-U Cattle Co. and Reina’s Ultra Lounge.
During the Bucks January 9th “Pink in the Rink” game the team donated $10,000 to WINGS to support breast cancer research and treatment in Laredo.
WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing, Giving, Sharing) is a non-profit organization that provides top-quality, comprehensive breast cancer treatment services to uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients. WINGS has served Central and South Texas for over nine years, and now, WINGS Laredo is the newest chapter to bring these life-saving services directly to the women and men of Laredo.
For the last two seasons the Bucks, along with Laredo Energy and Border Lease offered $5 tickets to the team’s first home playoff game to benefit South Texas Food Bank, and Sacred Heart Children Home. The Bucks donated $20,000 each to South Texas Food Bank and Sacred Heart Children Home.
