The dine-in only plate that will be in this one time promotion are HUEVOS TIRADOS which include 2 scramble eggs mixed with refried beans with a side of papa a la mexicana and 1 flour tortilla. This is open to the public and no other purchases are necessary. Soft drinks,juice,cofee and any other items will be charged separately. One plate per person per visit.
Broncos To Hold Local Tryouts For 2009 Season
Laredo Broncos General Manager Jose Melendez, has announced that local tryouts for the team will be held at Veterans Field on Saturday, May 30th starting at 10 am.
There is a no fee to participate in the tryout. “We are looking for talented individuals that have exhausted all their college eligibility and have great attitudes,” Melendez mentioned.
Players are to report to Veterans Field at 9 am for registration. All participants are to provide their career statistics and must supply their own equipment. The players will also have to sign a release form before trying out.
Laredo Broncos Manager Ricardo Cuevas, General Manager Jose Melendez, and Albert Laurel will be on hand to evaluate all the players at the ballpark. The Broncos have really been going after local talent this year already signing OJ Garza and Andres “El Monkey” Santos, and Broncos Field Manager Ricardo Cuevas would like to see a few more locals try to make the team. “Laredo has great baseball talent. I know there are some players in the area, that can come out and give their best and have a shot at making the team.”
Players that are selected at the tryout camp will be invited to spring training and have a chance at making the final roster. The first game of the year will take place on June 11th against the Edinburg Roadrunners.
The Laredo Broncos begin their 4th season in 2009. The Broncos will play an 80 game season from June to September with 36 home games at Veterans Field. On Tuesday May 19, 2009 the Career and Technical Education Family and Consumer Education classes under the direction of Mrs. Meva Saenz will conduct a “Toros Gift of Love“ activity.
The Apparel class will donate handmade caps to the Cancer Center at Doctor’s Hospital. These caps will be given out to the ladies that are undergoing cancer treatments. The Culinary Arts classes will cater and bake delicious “Million Dollar Carrot Cake“ for the guests.
Three young ladies enrolled in Mrs. Meva Saenz’ classes will donate their hair to “Locks of Love”. Sandra Hernandez from the Cancer Center at Doctor’s Hospital will accept the students hair and send it to the Locks of Love organization.
Guests will be arriving at about 2:15 pm to the sewing lab to set up for the hair cuts. Roel Gonzalez from Roel’s Images will do the honors of cutting hair. Each student was asked to donate their skills for this worthy project and they came through with not only their sewing skills (acquired during the year in the apparel class) and their baking skills (acquired in the culinary class) but also with their hearts. They were so enthusiastic. Mrs. Nelda Garcia, one of our teachers at C.H.S. who is currently successfully fighting cancer, and Mrs. Raquel Ramirez, a cancer survivor, served as our role models. When the other students heard, they decided to participate by baking goodies or by donating their hair. We should finish by 3:45 pm. We look forward to seeing you. Thank you!!

3rd Annual Ballroom Gala-Dance ft. SoundTown
Vidal M. Treviño School of Communications and the Fine Arts Music Department is proud to announce their 3rd Annual Ballroom Gala-Dance featuring SoundTown. SoundTown is VMT’s Jazz Ensemble who is making their musical mark in Laredo and throughout South Texas with their vibrant,energetic,and jazzy sounds.Under the direction of Robert M. Lopez, the ensemble features student vocalists and instrumentalists playing jazz standards from the big band era and current jazz greatest including Count Basie,Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima, Brian Setzer, Peter Cincotti and Michael Buble. Also included in their repertoire list are the Latin styles of Perez-Prado, Tito Puente, Linda Ronstadt and Poncho Sanchez.
The 3rd Annual Ballroom-Dance will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 from 7:30–11:00p.m. at the Center for the Arts located at 500 San Agustin in historic downtown Laredo. This event will be underwritten by the Fernando A. Salinas Charitable Trust.Guest artists will include Richard Noriega and Beatrice Escudero. Tickets for the dance are available at the VMT office located at 820 Main 956-795-3325; and at the Center for the Arts located at 500 San Agustin 956-725-1715. Tickets are $20.00 per person. Proceeds will go toward scholarships for SoundTown graduating seniors.
