WBCA CARNIVAL SPONSORED BY MCDONALD’S RETURNS TO LAREDO

The Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association is in full swing and soon everyone will be able to enjoy the 11-day WBCA Carnival Sponsored by McDonald’s, scheduled to arrive Feb. 9th and run thru the 19th.

Exciting things are in store this year with McDonald’s joining the 115th Celebration as the Carnival’s title Sponsor. Pre-Sale discount tickets for the Carnival Sponsored by McDonald’s will go on sale at the WBCA Ticket Kiosk at Mall Del Norte Center Court, beginning Feb. 6th.

Come meet Ronald McDonald February 9th at 4 p.m. at the event’s Grand Opening, take pictures, enjoy free goodies and more!

“The Carnival has always been a WBCA favorite and with another Laredo favorite in McDonald’s coming onboard as the event’s title sponsor, the carnival is sure to thrill and entertain the young and young-at-heart alike and you might even get a chance to take a photo with Ronald,” WBCA president Jose A. Palacios, Jr. said.

One of the highest attended events of the celebration, the WBCA Carnival Sponsored by McDonald’s caters to children and adults of all ages with more rides, more games and more fun year after year! From the soaring Ferris wheel to hair raising roller coasters, rides promise to deliver a heart-pounding adrenaline rush so enticing it’s no wonder this WBCA event has attracted millions of loyal followers to its doors since 1973! For those seeking entertainment of a different sort, plenty of more action abounds on the carnival floor.

Popular rides such as the Zipper, the Spin-Out, the Kami-Kazi and more are sure to challenge thrill seekers of all ages; meanwhile, the little ones can enjoy rides on the bumper cars, the Tilt-A-Whirl, Giant Wheel, a World Class Kiddie Land and more!

The WBCA Carnival’s eleven day run begins Feb. 9, 2012 and will end Feb. 19, 2012.
Gates open at Noon on both Saturday and Sunday at the Laredo Energy Arena (Parking Lot) and at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is $2. $7 Pre-sale discount tickets are available at most schools and at the WBCA ticket kiosk located at Macy’s Center Court. Valid dates to use the pre-sale tickets at the WBCA Carnival are Feb. 13, 14, 15 and 16. The POP days (bracelets sell for $18) are Friday, Feb. 10 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Feb. 11 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 17 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Tickets for the 2012 Celebration can be purchased beginning February 6th at the WBCA ticket kiosk inside Mall Del Norte — while supplies last! Last day for pre-sale tickets is Wednesday, February 15. Hours of operation for the ticket kiosk will be Monday thru Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The ticket kiosk will be closed on Sundays. Jalapeño Festival pre-sale tickets are also on sale at participating Stripes locations and at all O’Reilly’s Auto Parts locations. The Border Beer Fest will be Laredo’s first ever Beer celebration event. With an endless supply of music, food, and beer, this will become one of Laredo, Texas premiere parties. Beer enthusiast from Laredo and surrounding areas will be invited to sample beer, vote on their favorite, learn how to pair beer with food. plus listen to great live music, and enjoy a cuisine from Laredo’s most popular beer joints. The event will be held at the Laredo International Fair & Exposition Pavillion Saturday February 4th, 2012 from 6p.m. to 11p.m. Pre sale tickets will cost $15 and $20 the day of the event, while designated drivers enjoy a $10 cover that gives them all the benefits of the Border Beer Fest without being able to drink any alcohol. This will be a 21 and up event to avoid any safety issues and ALL attendees will be required to present proof of age. No exceptions will be made. While security will be at its maximum, we will make sure this event will be one to remember for years to come.

Border Beer Fest announces new ticket price.
Laredo, January 12th, 2012: Pre Sale sample ticket prices for Border Beer Fest have been discounted from
$25 to $15 making Laredo’s first ever beer tasting festival even more affordable. For $10, designated drivers
can also participate in the sampling of gourmet food and cuisine from the Gateway City’s most savory
restaurants.
Border Beer Fest will be held Saturday, February 4th, 2012 at the L.I.F.E. Downs Pavilion and will benefit South
Texas Academic Rising Scholars.
Attendees will be greeted with the opportunity to sample from 100 different beer types, gourmet food samples,
beer and food pairing workshops, and Beer 101 which educates beer lovers on how beer is made.
“It’s history in the making and we are blessed to bring it to Laredo,” says David “Kash” Vasquez, creator and
organizer of Laredo’s first ever beer sampling event, Border Beer Fest.
“Beer from around the world combined with the best restaurants in the city for 10 and 15 bucks is something
everyone will love,” adds Vasquez.
Texas Monthly’s famed Chef Beto Gutierrez of Zaragoza Grill will provide a show that highlights his Modern
Latin Cuisine while 22 year culinary veteran Chef Chano Aldrete brings Border Fusion to the scene adding to
the Border Beer Fest flavor and spice. Beer fest goers will relish in food from eateries such as El Capataz,
Zaragoza Grill, La Roca, La Carreta, Aji, and Buckets just to name a few plus move to the best of Classic Rock,
80’s, Spanish Pop, and Top 40 from local sensation Factura 22.

Dig up last year’s party masks and take out your beads, it’s time to hit the downtown party scene and celebrate a sizzling New Orleans’ style Mardi Gras — the Laredo way!

The sights sounds and tastes of exotic food, dancing, and international performers descend upon Laredo’s historic downtown district to make way for the annual UETA Jamboozie, breathing new life to the border city and resurrecting the downtown club scene one Brazilian Samba dancer at a time.

Operating under the auspices of Laredo Main Street, this festive pachanga offers a sampling of music from all parts of the globe and a taste of international as well as regional foods including New Orleans and Cajun style selections sure to tantalize your taste buds.

Accompanying more than 30 food and novelty booths that line a 20 block area of downtown Laredo selling gorditas, tacos, flautas, menudo, enchiladas and the like, are a string of regional, national, and internationally renowned performers taking center stage on six locations on the corner of Hidalgo, Lincoln, Iturbide, San Agustin, Flores and Grant Streets.

November 5: The First ever Laredo UFO brought to you by the Webb County Heritage Foundation

The first ever “Laredo UFO Conference” sponsored by the Webb County Heritage Foundation,  will take place on Saturday, November 5 at Texas A&M International University. Unknown to the average person, Laredo and the border region have been sites of significant Unidentified Flying Object activity for many decades.
Laredo’s first UFO conference will feature a presentation on local UFO evidence by the Laredo Paranormal Research Society including demonstration of audio and videotaped documentation. Next on the program will be Noe Torres, author, researcher and state section director for MUFON (Mutual UFO Network), who will speak about the UFO crash near Laredo in 1948 and present a historical perspective on reported UFO activity over the last two centuries. Later, the film “Fire in the Sky” will be screened for participants, followed by a presentation by author and abductee, Travis Walton whose story is the basis of the movie and is considered the best documented case of alien abduction ever recorded. Mr. Walton will be appearing that evening on the anniversary of his abduction by extra-terrestrials. He will relate his experience followed by a question-and-answer period and then a book-signing.
Advance conference ticket purchases are encouraged as seating will be limited.
