Laredo, Texas
Laredo, Texas, was founded in 1755 on the southern end of the Rio Grande by Tomas Sanchez with a Spanish land grant. The Mexican-American War divided the city into two halves, creating the twin of Nuevo Laredo on the southern half of the Rio Grande/Rio Bravo in 1848.
